Support as you
get older

Getting older brings change, and the right support can help you stay independent, connected and confident. Our psychologists and occupational therapists work with older adults and their families to maintain wellbeing, adapt to change and keep doing the things that matter.

How psychology can help

Adjusting to major life changes such as retirement, relocation, loss of independence or the death of a partner or friend

Managing anxiety, low mood, stress and sleep difficulties

Coping with grief, loneliness and social isolation

Adjusting to a new diagnosis or chronic health condition

Cognitive assessments for memory and thinking concerns, and support with the emotional impact of cognitive change

Support for family members and carers

How occupational therapy can help

Staying safe and independent at home, including falls prevention and home safety assessments

Recommending equipment, aids and simple home modifications

Adapting routines and everyday tasks (cooking, dressing, showering, getting around) so they stay manageable

Energy conservation and pacing for fatigue or ongoing health conditions

Staying active in the community, hobbies and social life

Supporting a safe return home after illness, injury or hospital stay

Working together

Psychology and OT often complement each other. Looking after your emotional wellbeing makes it easier to stay active and independent, and staying independent supports your mood and confidence. Our clinicians work with you and your family to build a plan around your goals.

We offer in-person and telehealth appointments, and in some cases a clinician can travel to you. Get in touch to discuss what’s available in your area.
